Login
The identification required to access a computer or website.
Logo
A graphic, usually comprised of a symbol and/or letters to identify a company or brand.
Lossless Compression
A method of reducing file size without loss of data by removing redundant information.
Lossy Compression
A method of reducing file size in which some data (usually not noticible to human perception) is deleted to achieve a higher compression rate.
LZW Compression
Lempel Zev Welch Compression. Named for its inventors, Lempel - Zev - Welch, it is a lossless compression scheme which takes advantage of repetition in data streams, such as rows of identically colored pixels. It is the compression scheme employed by graphic files in the GIF format.
Marquee
A scrolling message on a webpage, named after the once common signs on theaters. Javascript is usually used to produce a marquee.
Mashup
A website which combines content from more than one source to create a new user experience.
